Last week we had another great cooking club session at the Downtown Women’s Center. This time we made Mexican paella, Mexican salad, and fruit salad. We had so many helping hands that we finished in record time.
Thanks to all who attended. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
We had another fun adventure cooking at the Downtown Women’s Center last night. This time we made jambalaya, Cajun coleslaw and fruit salad for 120-140 women to eat the next day.
The Downtown Women’s Center provides living quarters, meals, training and counseling to women that are either homeless or in difficult straits.
Thank you to our friends, clients, and colleagues who volunteered with us – and a special shout out to everyone who helped with the (not-so-easy) rice cooking!
We had a wonderful time cooking with clients, colleagues, and friends at the Downtown Women’s Center cooking club last week. We made soy sauce chicken, cilantro rice, Asian salad, and fruit salad for the women to enjoy for lunch the next day.
Thanks to all who volunteered with us!

Thanks to our friends for joining us at the Downtown Women’s Center in LA last night. We cooked meals for 140 low-income women. Alex Neymark, Pete Robbins, Stacy and Oscar Ruiz, Chris Wadden, Ron Lowe and two great cooking team leaders joined us. Always great to spend time with good people doing good works.
We were delighted to have Patty Dao and a few of her fellow board members from Girls in Tech LA join us, as well as Andrew Struve, Michelle Kalatian, Pete Robbins, Lenny Lipton and Maria Kuzyakina. Thanks to all of our volunteers who took time away from watching Election Night to make meals for 120-150 homeless women.
